To my doctor:

I'd like to be evaluated for esketamine (Spravato) treatment for depression that hasn't responded to the antidepressants I've tried. Could we talk about whether a referral makes sense - and if I don't meet criteria yet, which next medication trial would count toward them?

For the clinician

  • Indication: Spravato (esketamine CIII nasal spray) is FDA-approved, in conjunction with an oral antidepressant, for treatment-resistant depression in adults, and for depressive symptoms in adults with MDD with acute suicidal ideation or behavior.
  • Typical payer criteria: two or more adequate oral antidepressant trials in the current episode; concurrent oral antidepressant during treatment.
  • Administration: REMS program - administered only in certified healthcare settings with 2-hour post-dose observation; never dispensed for home use.
  • Our role: Brain Recovery Centers runs a certified treatment site in Chesterfield serving St. Charles County and St. Louis County, handles benefits verification and prior authorization, and returns outcome measures (PHQ-9, and PCL-5 where relevant) to you at the interval you prefer, with patient consent.
  • Referral & records: phone and fax published at opening; the patient can also self-refer via the screener at our site.

Want us to talk to your doctor's office directly instead? Start the screener and check "my doctor is involved" - we'll take it from there.

If you're in crisis right now, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), or go to your nearest emergency room. Brain Recovery Centers is not an emergency service.
